What is STREET WORKOUT
Street workout is a physical activity performed in outdoor parks or public facilities. It roots comes from Ancient Greece, but became a popular as movement in United States, Russia, Eastern and Central Europe. Notably in Moscow, Riga, New York City, Barcelona, Belgrade, Dubai, Kairo etc. It has now spread all over the world and World Street Workout Organization (WSWCF) is working really hard to verify this movement as official sport in all countries. Street workout is combination of multiple sports and disciplines shuch as athletics, calisthenics, bodyweight bodybuilding, gymnastics. The name „Street Workout“ is a stylish name for bodyweight workouts in outdoor parks. Street workout have over 1000 officialy registered teams or groups. National and World championships are organised regulary since 2011.
Ordinary street workout routine often consists of simple exercises such as pull-ups, chin-ups, push-ups, dips, muscle-ups, sit-ups and squats. Street workout also includes some static (isometric) holds such as the front lever, back lever, straddle and full planche, human flag etc.
Street workout is divided in two main disciplines, the first one being strength training and the second one is freestyle. Strength training includes the isometric holds, strength exercises and reps like: planche, front lever, back lever, chin-ups, pull-ups, muscle-ups, push-ups. Also, strength training includes single arm pull ups, hefestos, other variation of muscle-ups and many others. Freestyle discipline include all best exercises from strength training with some acrobatic (dynamic) moves. Dynamics includes movements like 360s, 540s and its variations, switchblades, ginger, gainer and an incredible variety of tricks developed by the athletes which are connected with other moves in order to create routines or sets for they freestyle show.
